SACE is a five-year project funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) through a contract with Chemonics International. It aims to strengthen civil society to influence the development and implementation of key democratic reforms at the national, state, and local levels in Nigeria. SACE supports both CSOs’ increased capacity to engage and influence public institutions on key issues using the innovative STAR methodology as well as their ability to strengthen public awareness and support for reform. SACE explicitly aims to engage marginalized populations, such as women, youth, and people with

disabilities. The project works with sixteen core partners and over 200 cluster members and collaborators.

To ensure that SACE meets its public awareness objectives, the Project is proposing to undertake an advanced media training for all its partners  with emphasis on the thematic areas that its partners are working on and ensuring developmental framing of such reports. The project now seeks to hire a dedicated and high performing individual for the Media and Development Expert position.

 

The Media and Development Expert will be responsible for developing training curriculum, modules and manuals/documentation on advanced media; and developing training that addresses identified key points. Delivery of the training in a 2-days National Workshop for media practitioners and project partners. Drafting of template for social media policies and procedures. In addition to this, the Media and Development Expert shall prepare, organize and deliver facilitator guide. Provide a report on the activity and make recommendations for further action. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

 

  • Minimum University level advanced degree in relevant field preferred
  • At least 10 years professional experience, with demonstrated experience in journalism, media and development work in a developing country – preferably Nigeria
  • Strong experience and understanding of TAGG issues and media reporting.
  • Active network within the media and development community in Nigeria,
  • Training experience
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Willingness/ability to travel within Nigeria, as needed to deliver on the assignment.
